There are a few playoff berths to be settled. A look at a couple of leagues …

Empire — Cypress is the league champion and will go to the Division 1 playoffs as the league’s No. 1 playoff representative. If today Pacifica (6-3 in league) beats Valencia (5-4), Pacifica is the league’s No. 3 team — the league’s final playoff berth. If Valencia beats Pacifica, they both finish 6-4 in league. The first tiebreaker is how those teams did vs. the league champion. Valencia was 1-1 vs. Cypress, Pacifica was 0-2. So, a Valencia win today gives the Tigers the No. 3 spot. Tustin is going to the playoffs, but whether as a No. 2 or No. 3 is to be determined.

Note: Valencia-Pacifica rained out; awaiting rescheduling information.

Trinity League — JSerra and Orange Lutheran are 1-2, respectively. Up for grabs between Mater Dei (7-7 in league) and Santa Margarita (6-8) is the No. 3 berth, the final playoff berth in the Trinity League. If Mater Dei beats Servite today, then Mater Dei is the league’s No. 3 team. If Santa Margarita beats JSerra and Mater Dei loses, then Santa Margarita and Mater Dei finish at 7-8 each. As Santa Margarita won two of three against Mater Dei, Santa Margarita would go as the No. 3 team.

Note: Servite at Mater Dei has been rescheduled for Friday, 6 p.m., at Mater Dei. JSerra at Santa Margarita was moved to a Saturday, 9 a.m. start.

Many games were moved up to 2 p.m. today in an effort to get games completed before anticipated rain moves into Orange County.
