Huntington Beach has named assistant coach Brett Brown as its football coach, replacing Eric Lo, the Huntington Beach Union High School District announced on Twitter on Friday morning.

Brown served as quarterback coach and offensive coordinator during his nine seasons with Lo.

He teaches physical education and health at Huntington Beach.

“We are thrilled to be able to hire one of our own,” Principal Daniel Morris said in the school’s press release.

The Oilers finished 3-7 the past two seasons after capturing the CIF Southwest Division title in 2013 under Lo. It was the Oilers’ first CIF crown in football since 1935.
