El Toro opened the football playoffs Thursday night by upsetting Los Alamitos and probably making a case to be ranked in the Orange County Top 10. So it’s only fittingly that my latest review of The Register’s Hot 150 includes a major snub from the sizzling Chargers in the West Valley Division.

SNUBS

Not rated, Kaleb Fossum, El Toro, WR/DB/KR: The senior entered CIF with 68 receptions for almost 900 yards and seven TDs. He also had 18 all-purpose TDs, including three punt returns and a kickoff return, and nearly 1,900 all-purpose yards. Those are All-County numbers.

In the Chargers’ victory Thursday, Fossum (5-10, 175) scored on a 1-yard TD run and collected four receptions for 41 yards.

Entering the season, El Toro coach Robert Frith was high on Fossum and RB Marcus DeSantis, who also joins my ever-growing snub list.

STUD
21. Trey Tinsley, El Toro, QB — In the year of the quarterback, the uncommitted senior became the first trigger man to post a big postseason victory. College recruiters should take note. Tinsley racked up almost 300 yards with four TDs and no picks against the Griffins.
