Fountain Valley’s second possession ended with a three-and-out. Kyle Middlebrooks has two carries for 5 yards. Those are his only two touches of the game so far.
OLu will take over at midfield for its second possession. OLu was very effecient and methodical on its first drive and it converted on a fourth-down try.
The Lancers are mixing their committee of RBs with a lot of short passes. The Barons defense has made OLu earn every yard, but OLu is still getting positive yardage and moving the chains.
OLu had moved to the Barons’ 37, but a personal foul against the Lancers brought up a second-and-27 from their own 46. FV DE Awwad Yasin got a lot of pressure on OLu QB Bobby Wheatley on third-and-long to force the incompletion and OLu was forced to punt.

That’s in the second quarter. Lakewood blocked a Servite punt, and converted it into a TD.

QB Clark Evans scored on a 2-yard sneak.
7-3, Los Al, 5:48 to go in the first half.
The TD was set up by a 44-yard pass from Evans to Paul Richardson, right after a great catch by Richardson over the middle for a first down — Richardson was hammered on that play, but held on.

Pac-5: Lakewood 14, Servite 7 … early 2nd quarter. Lakewood RB Jerry Stone is running amok.
Southwest: La Habra 35, Anaheim 0 … La Habra was my pick to win that Southwest Division.
Pac-5: Mission Viejo 17, Loyola 0 … Jake Staszak scored a TD on a 74-yard INT return.
Southern: Laguna Hills 7, Artesia 6 … a Refsnyder TD pass for Laguna Hills.
Pac-5:San Clemente 7, Esperanza 3 … late 2nd quarter.
Northeast: Fairmont Prep 14, Bell-Jeff 7
Pac-5: Tesoro 3, Los Alamitos 0 … mid-2nd quarter.

Southern Division: Costa Mesa 7, Santiago 0 (late 2nd quarter)
Southern: Corona del Mar 14, La Mirada 0 (Halftime)
Pac-5: Bishop Amat 10, Long Beach Poly 0 (halftime)
Pac-5: Servite 7, Lakewood 7 (end of first quarter)
Pac-5: Mission Viejo 10, Loyola 0 (early 2nd quarter)
I like Corona del Mar in that Southern Division … the Amat lead is very interesting; plenty of people thought Amat is a very strong at-large team … I expect Santiago to catch up and take the lead against Costa Mesa.

Bishop Amat 10, Long Beach Poly 0 (second quarter)
Servite 7, Lakewood 7 (late first quarter)
Orange Lutheran 7, Fountain Valley 0 (end of first quarter) … Exavier Edwards scored on a 13-yard pass from Wheatley.

Fountain Valley had very minimal success on its first possession.
Fountain Valley QB Dominic Ragland got out of the grasp of OLu DL Kapono Asuega and made a 12-yard pass to Artie O’Keefe to pick up a first down. The Barons will need more plays like that from Ragland to have a shot tonight.
The Barons got caught in a third-and-long situation and Ragland got stopped short of the first down by OLu’s Gabe Lemon, forcing the Barons to punt.
OLu moved into Barons territory quickly. The Lancers were facing a third-and-6 and Exavier Edwards came through with a 9-yard gain to the Barons 21.

Los Al coach John Barnes went a bit nuts on a very Tesoro-friendly spot that gave Tesoro a first down — and I kind of thought a measurement was in order, anyway, instead of what the refs did, which was just call for the chains to be moved right away.
A short pass from Picazo to Preston King, which King turned into a long gain with a nifty run, and a long run by Zach Mitchell has the Titans at the Los Alamitos 19.
