SATURDAY’S CIF-SS GIRLS WATER POLO FINALS

At Woollett Aquatics Center, Irvine

DIVISION 4

PENINSULA (19-6) VS. CANYON (24-8), 10 a.m.

Outlook: The top-seeded and well-balanced Comanches are first-time finalists. The squad doesn’t have a glaring weakness and boasts multiple scorers. Center Kendal Montgomery gives Canyon a strong presence at center. The North Hills champion also features strong defenders Kylie Stablein, Emily Gonzalez and Madison Weber. The trio helps Canyon play a strong press. Third-seeded Peninsula also knows about defense. Goalie Kiersten Hazard, a 6-foot-1 senior, is coming off 16 saves in a 12-3 victory against No. 2 seeded South Pasadena in the semifinals. Junior Lucie Abele (110 goals) is a field player to watch with Peninsula, also seeking its first section title.
