Mater Dei senior quarterback Chase Forrest (6-3, 190) has committed to Cal, Monarchs football coach Bruce Rollinson said Wednesday.

"I think Cal got a good one," Rollinson said of the two-year starter.

Forrest said in a text message that he has committed to Cal as a scholarship quarterback and will sign with the Pac-12 program on National Signing Day, Feb. 5.

This past season, Forrest passed for 2,004 yards and 14 TDs and rushed for 305 yards to help the Monarchs reach a second consecutive Pac-5 Division final. He emerged as the starter for Mater Dei as a junior.

In other recruiting news from Mater Dei, right guard Alex McCutcheon (6-3, 265) has committed to Colorado-Mesa.
