Corona del Mar has named defensive coordinator Dan O’Shea as its football coach, replacing Scott Meyer, athletic director Don Grable said in an e-mail Tuesday.

O’Shea has served as the Sea Kings’ defensive coordinator the past four seasons, leading one of the better units in Orange County. Corona has claimed three CIF-SS titles and a state crown during the stretch.

In 2013, Corona del Mar finished 16-0 en route to the state Division III title, allowing  9.6 points per game.

O’Shea was the defensive coordinator at Trabuco Hills prior to Corona del Mar. He also is the former head coach at St. Anthony in 2003-2004.

He replaces Meyer, who departed after last season for Servite.

“We are very happy to have Dan’s experience, expertise, organization and enthusiasm in leading our CdM football student-athletes in the future,” Corona del Mar said in its announcement.

The Sea Kings also are the three-time defending Pacific Coast League champions.
