It will be an interesting offseason for the Servite football program, which is seeking a new coach. The position should draw considerable interest because of the Friars’ history of talented players and Trinity League membership.

Here’s A.J. Gass on his recent move from Servite to become the football coach at Garces Memorial in Bakersfield:

“It feels great to have the opportunity to build a program from the ground up, that reflects my style of football, while having support from the top down,” he said in a text message.

Gass departed Servite after two seasons, going 10-13 with a trip to the second round of the Pac-5 playoffs in 2013.

The last Trinity League opening was at Santa Margarita, which hired Rick Curtis from Northwood. Curtis and the Eagles went 6-5 last season and fell to Crespi in the first round of the playoffs.
