Hayley Copeland tossed a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 14 as Esperanza’s softball team opened the Cypress tournament with a 10-0 mercy-shortened victory against visiting Mira Costa on Monday.
The South Carolina-bound senior walked three and also went 3 for 3 at the plate. Haleigh John also went 3 for 3 with a double for Esperanza (1-0).
