Stanford’s Ella Eastin (Crean Lutheran) outdueled Cal’s Katie McLaughlin (Santa Margarita) by about a second to capture the 200-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 51.35 seconds to help the Cardinal win the NCAA Division 1 Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis on Saturday night.
Stanford scored 526.5 points to dominate runner-up Cal (366).
On Friday, Eastin won the 400 individual medley in an American record 3 minutes, 57.57 seconds. The sophomore touched only one second off Katinka Hosszu’s 2012 NCAA record.
