You can view the full Division 1A bracket here. All first round games are on Saturday at 7 p.m. Here’s a deeper look at the draw:

The favorites

1. Camarillo (23-3): The Scorpions were an Open Division watch list team all season and enter the postseason having won 11 consecutive games, including a win over Chaminade. Senior twins Geraldynn and Geralynn Leaupepe combine to score about 40 points and 22 rebounds per game.

2. Ventura (24-2): The Cougars actually beat Camarillo in a tournament in December and likely pose the toughest thread to the Scorpions in the playoffs. Marki Meyer leads the scoring for Ventura, which has not lost since falling to Redondo Union on Dec. 20.

3. Huntington Beach (23-2): The Oilers enter the playoffs coming off one of the most successful regular season in school history — coach Russell McClung said he went back into the 1990s and couldn’t find a season where the team went undefeated in league play. Paola Roa is Huntington Beach’s star and Stephanie Louie is a consistent outside shooter. Both played on the Oilers team that reached the Division 1A finals in 2012.

Huntington Beach should get past Montebello in the first round and is more talented than Westminster and Valencia, its two potential second-round opponents. Burroughs of Burbank or Chino would be a formidable quarterfinal opponent, though.

From Orange County

10. Cypress (23-3): The Centurions rolled through the second half of Empire League play, winning the title outright by closing the season with a 50-point win over Western. Freshman CC Hall has improved as the season has gone on and senior guard Arin Perry can score in bunches. The key for Cypress to make a playoff run is to find offense beyond those two, which has been a challenge at times.

The Centurions open the playoffs against Trabuco Hills, which came in third in the Sea View League. Cypress actually defeated the Mustangs 58-40 and 67-24 in nonleague games early in the year. Expect the Centurions to take care of business again and advance to play a good Peninsula of Rolling Hills Estates squad in the second round.

14. Westminster (19-7): The Lions could be a dangerous playoff team because of their ability to get hot shooting. Westminster has one of the top 3-point shooters in the county in Vicki Vo (14.8 points per game) and point guard Chyann Pendergrass averages 15.2 points and almost five assists.

Westminster plays Valencia on Saturday, a team that finished tied for second in the Empire League. The winner will likely face Huntington Beach.

15. University (17-10): The Trojans won nine straight games to end the regular season and win the Pacific Coast League title. They have a winnable game against Santa Fe of Santa Fe Springs in the first round before a likely date with Ventura. The Trojans are led by guards Emily Reiland and Dana Bossenmeyer.

Valencia (18-8): The Tigers finished the year by winning six of seven, including good wins over Tustin and Yorba Linda. They tend to play low-scoring games and should be able to keep it close with Westminster, behind juniors Traci Ishii and Vivian Ocampo.

Anaheim (16-8): The Colonists won a league title for the first time in school history but have a road game at Lakewood in the first round. Don’t let guard Lara Maceran’s size fool you: The senior is averaging 15.6 points per game.

Trabuco Hills (10-15): First-year coach Art Carrido took over the team late and said that it took a while for the Mustangs to play at their potential as a result. Senior Shelby Julian scores 14.3 points per game.

Katella (9-14): The Knights finished tied for second in the Orange League and are led by Lillian and Melissa Martinez. They will have their hands full against seventh-seeded Peninsula in the first round.

El Toro (11-15): The Chargers will be heavy underdogs against Canyon of Canyon Country. Amanda Sanchez leads El Toro in scoring and rebounding.

Finals prediction: Camarillo over Ventura. Huntington Beach should reach the semifinals, but the top two teams in the division — both of which were candidates for the Open Division — are too strong. McClung, the Huntington Beach coach, suggested that Division 1A might be stronger than 1AA this year as an effect of the Open Division and he could be right. Newbury Park and Canyon of Canyon Country could both make surprise runs as well.
