Mater Dei wide reciever Andre Collins has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a broken ankle his father, Andre Sr., confirmed Tuesday evening.

The Monarchs junior sustained the injury in the third quarter of last Friday’s 28-25 loss to St. John Bosco, and was taken off the field on a stretcher.

Through six games, Collins was Mater Dei’s top receiver, leading the team in receptions (15) and yards (273), while tying for the lead in touchdown receptions (2).

The 6-foot-5, 190-pounder also blocked the potential game-winning field goal in the Monarchs’ thrilling 28-27 victory over Westlake High of Westlake Village two weeks ago.

Mater Dei will play its Trinity League rival Servite this Friday night at Cerritos College at 7:30 p.m.
