First-team All-County water polo players Kent Inoue of Mater Dei and Matt Sherburne of Corona del Mar have committed to MPSF schools, their coaches said Tuesday night.

Inoue has committed to UCLA, Mater Dei coach Chris Segesman said, while Sherburne has pledged to Cal, Sea Kings coach Barry O’Dea said.

Inoue projects as a sharp-shooting attacker while Sherburne, pictured left, could emerge as a utility. He features a strong post-up game but not the dominant size of many of the college centers.

Wednesday is the first day boys water polo players can sign their national letters of intent.

Mater Dei’s signing day also includes a trio of players to NCAA champion USC: James Walters, McQuin Baron and Jake Sanders.
