What to watch Wednesday at the Phillips 66 National Championships

Where: William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center

Events: 200-meter butterfly, 100 free, women’s 800 free, men’s 1,500 free

Times: Prelims, 9 a.m.; finals, 6 p.m.

Preview: While Michael Phelps could be part of a blistering final in the men’s 100 free, Katie Ledecky, 17, might emerge as the star of the night in the 800 free, one of world-record events. “There’s a good amount of focus (for me) on this meet,” she said Tuesday. Former Edison and Cal standout Tom Shields, Katie McLaughlin, pictured, of the Mission Viejo Nadadores and Santa Margarita High and Corey Okubo of Aquazot are contenders in the 200 butterfly. Ex-Nadadore Chloe Sutton, now living in North Carolina, also could be in the mix in the 800.

What’s at stake: Top-four finishers in the 100 and 200 freestyles and winner of each Olympic event earn top priority to qualify for Pan Pac Championships. Roster additions likely will be made after that top priority is filled.

TV: Universal Sports Network, 6-8 p.m.

Tickets: Available at will call before prelims, starting at 7:30 a.m. and before finals, starting at 4:30 p.m.
