Los Alamitos has named Brent Danna as its boys water polo coach, ex-Griffins coach Dave Carlson said Wednesday afternoon.
Danna also has been hired as a social science teacher at the Sunset League school.
The former El Toro water polo standout had been hired in early May by his alma mater to guide the Chargers’ teams during the summer with the hopes of landing a teaching position in the district.
Danna had been coaching girls water polo at Crescenta Valley. He guided the school to a CIF Division 5 title two seasons ago.
With the Los Al boys, Danna replaces Jeff Nesmith, who departed for his alma mater, Long Beach Wilson, after one season with the Griffins.
