It’s been a busy spring so far for coaching news in boys water polo. Here are two more updates:
Laguna Beach coach Ethan Damato, a former O.C.-coach of the year and multi-CIF championship winning coach, will move to an assistant post for head coach Trevor Lyle, Damato confirmed.
Last season, Damato and Lyle were co-coaches as the Breakers made a run to the CIF-SS Division 3 semifinals.
Damato has led Laguna Beach to three CIF-SS Division 3 titles.
At Brea Olinda, veteran Stan Sprague takes the reins for Mario Ruiz, Sprague said. The Wildcats earned the No. 2 playoff seed in the North Hills League last season, falling in the wild-card round to Trabuco Hills.
Laguna Beach and Brea Olinda will return key players in the fall. The Wildcats were mostly juniors last season.
