Peter Abe is football head coach at Portola, which will open this fall, Portola principal John Pehrson announced today.
Abe in recent years has been an assistant coach at Villa Park, where he coached running backs. He previously was an assistant coach for 12 years at Irvine, his alma mater, where he was offensive coordinator.
Portola, in Irvine, will open in fall of 2016. The Bulldogs will field a freshman team in ’16, freshman and junior varsity teams in ’17, and will play their first varsity season in 2018.
