Fast-rising San Juan Hills quarterback Patrick O’Brien has committed to Nebraska, Stallions football coach Aaron Flowers said in a text Thursday.

“He’s honored to have the opportunity to play there and he’s glad his focus can soley be on his teammates his during senior season,” Flowers wrote of the junior. “(I’m) happy for him and his family.”

Nebraska was the first school to offer O’Brien earlier this spring. The Cornhuskers’ offered shortly after O’Brien earned MVP honors at a Nike regional camp in Redondo Beach. O’Brien stock also has soared with his play with the B2G Five Star passing team this spring.

Here’s what O’Brien posted on Twitter:

“I’m really excited and honored to announce I’m committing to the Univ. of Nebraska #BigRedFam16”

Nebraska also is home to another South County quarterback, ex-Santa Margarita standout Johnny Stanton. The Cornhuskers also feature a new coach if Mike Riley, formerly of Oregon State.
