Mike Bair, who coached Laguna Beach to the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 championship this past spring, resigned to become an assistant coach at Foothill.
Bair confirmed by text message that he tendered his resignation Tuesday and that he would continue to teach at a Laguna Beach middle school.
He coached Laguna Beach for five seasons, four of which were league-championship seasons. The Breakers were 111-34 overall and 67-7 in the Orange Coast League during his tenure. Bair guided Laguna Beach to an Orange County-record 53 consecutive league wins.
The CIF-SS championship was the school’s first section title in baseball in 78 years.
