Sonora All-County swimmer Taylor Ault is taking home-schooling classes to focus more effort into preparing for this summer’s U.S. Olympic Trials and is questionable to race this spring, Raiders swim coach Todd Jacobsen said in a text Wednesday.

The coach said he is “not sure yet” if Ault will swim for Sonora this spring, adding that the junior has not attended classes at Sonora this academic year.

Last spring, Ault captured the CIF-SS Division 2 title in the 200-yard freestyle in a meet-record 1 minute, 46.07 seconds and also won the 500 free in a sizzling 4:43.46.

Ault also led off the 400 free relay with a swift 49.80.

She swim club for La Mirada-based Armada. At the winter nationals in December, Ault clocked a 4:41.73 in the 500 free.

Corona del Mar sophomore Eva Merrell has decided not swim high school this spring to focus on Trials.
