Wally Grant has resigned as football head coach at Costa Mesa, he announced Wednesday.
Grant coached the Mustangs for four seasons. They were 21-21 during his tenure.
Costa Mesa was 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the Orange Coast League this season. The Mustangs went 5-0 in league to win the league championship in 2013.

Quarterback Brock Johnson threw two touchdown passes and Mission Viejo's defense dominated much of the game as the Diablos captured the CIF-SS West Valley Division football title on Saturday with a 21-10 victory over Vista Murrieta at Angel Stadium.

Trabuco Hills defeated San Clemente. 44-37, in tonight's CIF-SS Southwest Division championship game at San Clemente High.
Trabuco Hills quarterback Jimmy Jacobs was the key player for Trabuco Hills, completing 16 of 21 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns. He did not throw an interception and the Mustangs did turn the ball over.

Centennial of Corona coach Matt Logan confirmed tonight that the Huskies will play without standout junior running back JJ Taylor in their second-round matchup with Mater Dei in the Pac-5 playoffs.
Taylor had surgery Thursday to remove his appendix, which had become inflamed due to appendicitis earlier in the week.
