Football recruiting: CdM's Peter Bush lands 2nd major preferred walk-on offer

    Corona del Mar wide receiver Peter Bush (6-2, 205) has been offered a preferred walk-on by Michigan, the senior said in an e-mail Tuesday.

    Bush, the Sea Kings' former quarterback who has successfully moved to wide receiver, was offered as a wide receiver/athlete.

    Bush also has received a preferred walk-on from Notre Dame as a quarterback and committed late in the summer to the Fighting Irish. His brother, Sam Bush, is a redshirt freshman ...

    CIF-SS Council today

    The CIF-Southern Section Council, the CIF-SS legislative body, today approved a proposal that will change the running-clock rule in boys and girls basketball. Henceforth, at any time the lead in a game reaches 40 or more points a running clock will be implemented if agreed upon by coaches of both teams. Previously, the running clock was used once a 40-point lead occurred in the fourth quarter only.

    Tesoro's Modster feeling better, expects to play this week

    Tesoro quarterback Devon Modster, who suffered a shoulder injury Friday in a victory against San Clemente, said he will play this Friday when the Titans (5-1) play host to El Toro (4-2) in the teams' South Coast League opener.

    "Nothing major," Modster, a senior, said in a message via Twitter on Monday night. "Feeling a lot better. … I'll play."

    Football: Two standout receivers transfer to Buena Park

    Touted junior wide receivers Taariq Johnson from Hawkins of Los Angeles and Victor Bates of Lakewood have enrolled at Buena Park, Coyotes football coach Anthony White confirmed Monday.

    Johnson (6-3, 220), who also plays linebacker, played for the Coyotes last week against Western. He reportedly holds offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, Miami and Baylor, among others.

    Tesoro quarterback Devon Modster, who suffered a shoulder injury Friday in a 31-22 victory against San Clemente, is expected to be examined today, Titans coach Matt Poston said in a text over the weekend.

    The Arizona commit was injured on a run in the third quarter and was replaced by wide receiver Carter Jaenichen, the team's backup quarterback.
