    Water polo recruiting: Los Al's Spieker commits to Cal

    Los Alamitios water polo player Sarah Siepker has committed to Cal, Griffins report.

    Siepker plays club for Huntington Beach. The three-year starter helped the Griffins claim the Sunset League title last season and reach the Division 1 semifinals. 

    Siepker will serve as co-captain this season with Karley Kraft.

    Villa Park's Navarro to have knee examined Tuesday

    Villa Park quarterback Anthony Navarro, who suffered a knee injury during a record-setting performance against Foothill last week, is scheduled to undergo a MRI on Tuesday, Spartans football coach Dusan Ancich said in a text message Monday.

    Navarro passed for a school-record 367 yards and two touchdowns but left in the third quarter after a hard sack.

    Boys water polo: Mater Dei, Laguna Beach to clash in NorCal

    Mater Dei and Laguna Beach's boys water polo teams have reached the semifinals of the North-South Challenge in Northern California and face off today at 11:20 a.m. at Sacred Heart Prep.

    The winner will meet the Harvard-Westlake-Loyola winner in the 5:20 final.

    Laguna Beach advanced to the semifinals with a 14-11 victory against host Sacred Heart Prep, the top-seeded team from the North.

    Top boys soccer teams coming to San Clemente

    San Clemente boys soccer coach Mike Pronier is organizing a 12-game soccer showcase in December which will feature a field of some of the Western United State's most successful progams of the last four years. 

    Four games will be played each day beginning Dec. 18, finishing with a final match at 6 p.m. on Dec. 20. All games will be played at San Clemente High.

    Swim recruiting: Laguna Beach's Juliusson commits to Purdue

    Laguna Beach senior swimmer Erik Juliusson of the Irvine Novaquatics has committed to Purdue, Novaquatics coach Adam Crossen reports via Twitter.

    Juliusson captured CIF Division 3 titles last season in the 200-yard individual medley (1 minute, 50.52 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (50.28).

    He also raced on the Breakers' winning medley and 400 free relays, helping Laguna Beach finish second to J.W. North of Riverside in overall team points.

    Water polo recruiting: Beckman's Daurio commits to Harvard

    Beckman senior water polo player Nikki Daurio, pictured right, has committed to Harvard, Patriots girls coach Sam Bailey reports.

    Daurio racked up 103 goals, 46 assists and 122 steals last season for Beckman.
