El Dorado freshman Lucina Vincent held off Esperanza’s Shannon Mackellar and Katherine Gallaher to win the girls varsity Small Schools Division title at the Orange County Championships on Friday.

Vincent posted a time of 17:57 on the 3-mile course at Irvine Regional Park in Orange. Mackellar, a sophomore finished second (18:02) and Gallaher, a senior, was third (18:07).

On the boys side, Yorba Linda junior Henry Silva finished first (15:29 5:10), four seconds ahead of Esperanza junior Blake Harris (15:34 5:11) in the Small Schools Division race.

Yorba Linda junior Joseph Zack finished third (15:44 5:15) and Brenden Stone of Northwood was fourth (15:49 5:16).

Yorba Linda swept the team titles in both Small Schools races.

Yorba Linda’s girls finished with (53) points. The rest of the top five was Esperanza (67), Northwood (79), Santa Margarita (122) and Brea Olinda (132).

Yorba Linda’s boys (43) finished well ahead of runner-up Orange Lutheran (87). Servite (91), Northwood (117) and Buena Park (199) completed the top five.
