The Perfect Game All-American Classic, which will be played Aug. 10 at Petco Park in San Diego, will have strong representation from Orange County.

The West team will be coached by Brett Kay of JSerra and includes three players from the county on its roster: Aliso Niguel pitcher Kyle Molnar; Mission Viejo pitcher Patrick Sandoval and San Clemente pitcher Kolby Allard.

The game, in its 12th year, selects 54 of the top high school baseball players in the country. This year’s game will be televised by the MLB Network.

FOOTBALL: CROOM TRANSFERS TO SERVITE

Micah Croom, an all-state defensive back last season at Long Beach Poly, enrolled this week at Servite, Friars athletic director Alan Clinton said.

Croom, a 6-foot-1, 188-pound safety, will be a junior this school year. He was selected to the CalHiSports.com state all-sophomore defense first team last season. He has a scholarship offer from Utah. …

Los Alamitos’ Blake Johnson was invited this week to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game and received a scholarship offer from Arkansas. Johnson, a senior this coming school year, is the top-ranked punter in the nation by private kicking instructor Chris Sailer. Johnson also has offers from Oregon State, Duke and Colorado. …

Servite running back Tate Beachley accepted a scholarship offer from Holy Cross.

AWARDS: McKNIGHT, FRANCS RECEIVE NATIONAL HONORS

Gary McKnight of Mater Dei is the National High School Coaches Association boys basketball Coach of the Year, and Santa Margarita’s Rich and Ron Blanc are the national girls swimming Coaches of the Year as selected by the NHSCA.

McKnight coached Mater Dei to its fourth consecutive CIF State championship this past season. He also was MaxPreps.com’s Coach of the Year for all boys sports for 2013-14.

Rich and Ron Blanc, who are brothers, led Santa Margarita to its 15th consecutive Trinity League championship in girls swimming and a CIF-SS Division 1 championship this past season.
