STAN BERRYHILL

Orange Lutheran, 5-10, 170, Sr.

The senior had a burst that made him one of the more exciting players in the county to watch. Berryhill led Orange Lutheran in receiving, hauling in 63 passes for 961 yards and nine touchdowns. Against St. John Bosco in Week 10, he had 13 catches for 246 yards and three scores. Berryhill garnered the Trinity League’s specialist of the year honor. He averaged 26 yards per kickoff return and nearly 22 yards on punt returns. He had at least 100 all-purpose yards in nine games, scored 12 touchdowns and finished the season with 1,575 all-purpose yards.

BRANDON REAVES

San Clemente, 5-9, 169, Sr.

It was fitting that Reaves had a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter that secured the Tritons’ first CIF State championship. The senior finished with 812 receiving yards, 775 rushing yards and 2,194 all-purpose yards. He lined up at cornerback on defense, and was arguably the most dangerous return man in Orange County. Reaves accounted for 30 total touchdowns: rushing for 15, catching a pass for 11, one via an interception, two on punt returns and one on a kickoff return.

KICKER

CHASE McGRATH

Mater Dei, 6-1, 185, Sr.

With the Monarchs’ high-powered offense putting the ball in the end zone so often, most of McGrath’s work came post-touchdown. The senior converted 90 of 93 point after attempts, and booted the ball into the end zone on kickoffs nearly 80 percent of the time. He went 3 for 5 on field goal attempts, with a season-long of 51 yards. “He is that perfect blend of confidence and he’s just got a whip for a leg,” Mater Dei coach Bruce Rollinson said. “I can’t tell you how many times he bailed us out by making the other teams have to go 80 yards time and time again.”

PUNTER

RYAN STONEHOUSE

Mater Dei, 5-10, 170, Sr.

The Monarchs captured their first outright league title since 1999 in part because of their punter’s efforts against St. John Bosco. Stonehouse pinned Bosco inside its 20-yard line on four occasions in the teams’ Week 8 game, and averaged better than 51 yards on his five punts that evening. On the season, he averaged 44.1 yards per punt, and boomed a season-high 65-yarder against Santa Margarita. “His hang time was something else,” Mater Dei coach Bruce Rollinson said. “We’ve never had a kid put it in the air like he did.” Stonehouse was offered a scholarship by Cal.
