GARDEN GROVE – Quarterback Steven Hernandez rushed for 168 yards, and Edgar Galindo gained 126 yards on the ground as Los Amigos defeated Santiago, 27-20, Friday in an Orange Leagye game at Garden Grove High.

The Lobos (5-3, 2-1) scored the winning points on Galindo’s 33-yard run in the third quarter, but they needed their defense to make a late stand to hold off the Cavaliers (1-7, 0-3).

Things didn’t start off well for the Cavaliers. The Lobos took an early lead in the first quarter, when Galindo scored two touchdowns.

The Cavaliers, playing in front of their homecoming game crowd, saw most of their success through passing plays. Quarterback Angel Tajimaroa passed for 185 yards, and his main target was receiver Dominick Smith (95 yards receiving).

Santiago came back to tie the score in the second quarter with a TD catch by Smith and two field goals by Darwin Lira.

Smith had his second TD reception of the game, a 35-yarder, in the third quarter, but the Lobos quickly answered a 40-yard TD run by Hernandez.

Los Amigos took the lead for good in the third quarter with Galindo’s 33-yard scoring run.
