YORBA LINDA – Yorba Linda crushed Brea Olinda, 41-7, with a balanced offense and a stingy defense Friday night in a nonleague game at Yorba Linda.

Luke Wilson tossed touchdown passes of 19 yards to Luke Adams and 21 to Kris Carrington and Jadyn Webb ran 18 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns for the No. 20-ranked Mustangs. Reserve tailback Justin Syrko had a 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and Cole Magliano kicked five straight PATs and field goals of 23 and 24 yards.

Yorba Linda (5-1) had 374 yards in total offense, 205 rushing and 169 passing.

Brea Olinda had one shining moment offensively when Noah Rivera caught a lateral swing pass from quarterback Dylan Flenniken and sprinted to a 73-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The Wildcats (3-3) had 152 total yards, 79 without Rivera’s long run, in taking their third straight loss. Brea had only three first downs, one in the second half.

Flenniken was sacked twice and harassed into a lost fumble. He completed 4 of 9 for 39 yards and didn’t throw an interception. Rivera finished with 114 yards on 10 carries, including the touchdown.

Wilson, a 5-10, 140-pound junior, completed 12 of 21 passes for 169 yards. Ricky Lane had six receptions for 75 yards. Kyle McManus, thrust into the starting lineup because of injuries to Mason Winter and Jonah Slack, had 64 yards on 10 carries.

Webb’s 2-yard TD run on the final play of the first half lifted Yorba Linda to a 24-7 lead. Webb’s hole off right tackle was plugged and he bounced it outside.

The Mustangs took over at their 30-yard line following a punt with less than a minute to play. Wilson completed passes of 7 yards to Logan Venero and 9 to Lane and scrambled for a gain of 12 to the 2 with four seconds left. Wilson’s incomplete pass left Yorba Linda with two seconds and it decided to go for the touchdown rather than a field goal.

Yorba Linda built a 17-0 lead on the touchdown pass from Wilson to Adams, a 23-yard field goal by Cole Magliano and Webb’s 4 yard touchdown run with 4:28 left in the first half.

The Mustangs put together a 68-yard, nine play touchdown march on their opening possession of the second half to expand their lead to 31-7.

Wilson had completions of 11 and 23 yards to Lane and hit Carrington for a 21 yard touchdown with 6:47 left in the third period.
