PLACENTIA – It took El Dorado 20 seconds to get on the scoreboard. It just kept going from there and overwhelmed Estancia, 43-13, on Friday night at Valencia High.

Jack Strouse passed for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns while Jordan Fulton and Robert Arroyo provided the big plays on the ground. Fulton rushed for 117 yards on seven carries.

The Golden Hawks (1-1) used special teams to put themselves in prime position for the opening score as Jared Nitzel returned the kickoff 87 yards. On the next play Strouse scrambled for an 18-yard touchdown run and a 7-0 lead.

The Golden Hawks defense fed off that quick start and sacked Eagles QB Eric Carrasco on third down to force a punt. Five plays later Arroyo took a short pass from Strouse and turned that into a 28-yard score to give El Dorado a 14-0 lead.

The Golden Hawks playmakers were just getting started as James Crupi picked off Carrasco in the next series and two plays later Strouse threw another TD pass, this time to Garrett Seiler.

El Dorado went 80 yards in five plays on its next possession and Arroyo scored again, this time with a 25-yard touchdown run.

It was 34-0 in the second before Estancia (1-1) scored on a 42-yard field goal by Andy Martinez.

Carrasco threw for 170 yards and one score, a 20-yard strike to Tyler Ross late in the fourth quarter.
