SAN CLEMENTE – It didn’t take long for San Clemente to impose its will offensively in its season finale against Aliso Niguel.

Running back Vlad Dzhabiyev mowed down a Wolverines defender on his way to a 53-yard touchdown run on the game’s first play and the Tritons ran away with a 70-28 win Friday night at San Clemente High.

The Tritons scored touchdowns on their next two offensive plays: a 43-yard run by Brandon Reaves and a 53-yard pass from Jack Sears to Reaves. San Clemente had a 42-7 lead by the end of the first quarter.

“We started off really hot, I don’t think I’ve seen that before,” Tritons coach Jaime Ortiz said. “We were very efficient to start.”

San Clemente (8-2, 4-0) claimed the outright Sea View League title for the second consecutive year with the win. The 70 points set a school record for points in a game.

The Tritons’ lead was never in question. Reaves led all rushers with 132 yards on five rushes. Dzhabiyev had 96 yards and two scores on five carries, while Austin Whitsett scored four times and totaled 94 yards on eight carries.

Aliso Niguel (3-7, 1-3) fought back through the air. Quarterback Nick Chapman completed 30 of 45 passes for 352 yards and a pair of touchdowns to receiver Blake Sabol.

Chapman finished his senior season with 3,035 yards passing. Sabol caught seven of those passes for 127 yards.

Sears completed 10 of 14 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns.
