ORANGE – Kamron Craig and Nick Vargas might still be running.

The running back duo combined for 375 yards rushing and three touchdowns to lead Orange’s 28-7 pasting of Loara on Friday night at El Modena High for the Panthers’ first Golden West League win.

The seniors each had more than 100 yards rushing one play into the second quarter, when Vargas scampered 69 yards to put the Panthers up, 21-0.

Craig, who had a 33-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, also took a handoff 69 yards for a score in the second quarter. Craig finished the first half with 213 rushing yards, while Vargas had 124.

Despite the terrific tandem, Orange quarterback Jonathon Fausto found the end zone on the first drive of the game on a 1-yard sneak, his only rushing attempt.

Orange (4-5, 1-3) drove to the 1-yard line thanks to 64 yards rushing from Craig, as well as a 2-yard carry by Vargas.

Orange then picked off Loara quarterback Boogie Augustine to set up Craig’s 33-yard touchdown run, before a three-and-out by Loara (0-9, 0-4) gave the Panthers the ball right back set up Vargas’ 69-yard score on the first play of the second quarter.

Fausto needed just three pass attempts, with one completion for 14 yards to Anthony Lether.

Augustine finished with 114 yards passing.
