ANAHEIM – Katella did what it does best against visiting Magnolia on Friday at Glover Stadium – run the football.

The Knights scored all six of their touchdowns on the ground in a 46-26 victory in the Orange League opener for both teams.

Running back Jorge Fonseca led the way for the undefeated Knights (6-0, 1-0) with 148 yards on 10 carries, including touchdown runs of 35 and 45 yards.

Sebastian Demasco, who was filling in for the injured Randy Furbush, carried 12 times for 66 yards and had touchdown runs of 2, 5 and 4 yards and quarterback Joseph Vasquez contributed with a 50-yard scoring run.

“The kids do a good job,” Katella coach Fred DiPalma said. “I like the way we block. It’s (running) is just what we like to do.”

But not all Katella’s highlights came on offense.

Knights defensive tackle Armando Robles had two sacks, one for a 16-yard loss and the other for a 7-yard loss.

Robles’ second sack forced the Sentinels (2-4, 0-1) to have to punt from their 16.

The snap sailed over the punter’s head and was recovered by Magnolia in the end zone, resulting in a safety for Katella.

Magnolia was able to move the ball on occasion.

Kalolo Pangia led the Sentinels with 44 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.
