IRVINE – The Crean Lutheran High offense gained 483 yards on its way to a 58-0 nonleague victory over Mammoth on Saturday.

The Huskies had no answer for Gavin Folsum and the Crean Lutheran passing game. The junior threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns on eight completions, all in the first half.

His first touchdown came just 35 seconds into the game when he hit Nick Ellwein for a 57-yard score.

After the first of many quick stops from the Saints defense, Folsum threw a long touchdown pass again, this time to Daniel Albright for 53 yards. Folsum also ran for a 14-yard touchdown, to extend the Saints’ lead to 19-0.

The Saints defense did their part to contain the Mammoth offense. They allowed just one first down in the first half, and the Huskies only crossed the 50-yard line once.

“We executed really, really well,” Crean Lutheran coach Brett Mertens said. “This is the best we’ve executed all season, and we really took care of business today.”

Crean Lutheran (3-2) dominated with the running game as well. The Saints rushed for 213 yards with six different ball carriers. Freshman Jack Johnson led the attack with 99 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns. Garrett Cox ran for 61 yards on just three carries with a touchdown.
