ANAHEIM – Despite having the ball for just over seven minutes in the first half, Warren scored 36 unanswered points and cruised to a 49-6 rout of Western in a nonleague game Friday night at Western High.

The Bears (3-1) recorded 321 total yards, led by quarterback Jordan Yancy. He completed 7 of 12 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns, while running for two more. As a defensive back, the senior also broke up two pass plays.

After Western (1-3) saw a snap in punt formation sail out of the end zone for a safety, Warren scored on its next three possessions, all starting in Pioneer territory. Yancy scored on runs of 18 and nine yards while hitting an open Bedelah Togafau from 14 yards out, as Warren led, 22-0 just seven minutes into the contest.

Yancy finished the Bears’ scoring in the opening half with TD tosses of 45 yards to Jordan Mayes and 27 yards to Jaylin Starkey.

Edward Chorro and Sebastian Valencia added touchdowns in the third period for Warren, which held Western to just 76 yards through three quarters.

The Pioneers broke through in the closing moments, going 80 yards on 17 plays. A fourth-down run by Don Anderson kept the march going, which ended when Abraham Bojorquez threw a 19-yard TD pass to Enrique Lopez.
