GARDEN GROVE – Some updates on Sunny Hills’ midseason fuel level were provided Friday night.

The gauge indicates that this is not a tired group.

In a 48-12 victory over Los Amigos at Garden Grove High, Lancers running back Brandon Castelo bulldozed and outran defenders during a 91-yard touchdown run not long before senior safety Andrew Guevara did the same to get a 76-yard score off an interception.

And middle linebacker David Cabral was hardly ever off the field while contributing a 10-yard touchdown carry and two other attempts over 20 yards on offensive to go along with a sack and two tackles for losses on defensive.

As is typical for Sunny Hills (4-1), not a pass was thrown. Yet the Lancers still squeezed 238 yards out their first 10 plays on the way to a 41-0 halftime lead against the Lobos (0-4).

“At this moment tonight, I feel great about the way we’re playing,” Guevara said. “But we know there’s a long, long way to go.”

The tipped pass collected by Guevara at the Sunny Hills 24 was only the start of his trip up the right sideline that didn’t end until he dragged the last tackler 8 yards to the goal line.

Castelo finished with a 158 yards rushing and two other touchdown runs of 10 and 20 yards.
