Running back Jacob Adams rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns as Western defeated Alhambra, 26-0, on Friday night in a season-opening football game at Alhambra.

The Pioneers got on the scoreboard early when quarterback Don Anderson connected with wide receiver Ramzi Al Shurman for a 60-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

Western added to its lead when linebacker Enrique Lopez returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown.

Adams scored two second-half rushing touchdowns, including a 65-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Crean Lutheran used an offensive explosion to defeat Lutheran of San Diego, 66-14, at Hill High.

The Saints had four players score multiple touchdowns and they gained 359 total yards in their first game of the season.

Quarterback Gavin Folsom threw for 159 yards, including a 30-yard TD pass to Nick Ellwein and a 60-yard TD pass to Jack Johnson. Ellwein and Johnson each added two rushing touchdowns.

Whittier Christian relied on running back Nick Watase to lead them to victory at Bishop.

Watase, who ran for 61 yards while adding another 125 receiving yards, scored on a 9-yard run to put the Heralds ahead in the fourth quarter.
