BUENA PARK – With the start of the season comes high expectations for Buena Park and its explosive offense.

On Friday night the Coyotes lived up to the hype, using an impressive display of athleticism in a 75-20 victory over Orange at Buena Park High.

Front and center for the Coyotes (1-0) was senior Elijah Bynum, a transfer from Orange Lutheran. It did not take long for Bynum to show his new team what to expect this season, taking the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.

But one was not enough for the dynamic playmaker. Later in the quarter Bynum returned another kickoff 85 yards for a score, this time with a wide array of cuts, leaving him untouched on his way to the end zone.

Bynum added a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter and finished with 46 yards on three carries.

Not to be outdone, Zach Taylor showed why the Coyotes are going to be a force this season. The senior signal-caller finished 15-of-23 for 278 yards and four touchdowns. Taylor also showed ran for 137 yards on five carries, including an 80-yard score.

His favorite target was Devon Cooley, who had three receptions – all for touchdowns – for 62 yards.

For the Panthers (0-1), the final score was a far cry from how the game started.

After Bynum’s opening kickoff return, the Panthers came right back at the Coyotes, driving down the field on the legs of senior running back Tymaj Cole, who capped the drive with a 13-yard rushing touchdown.

After the Coyotes answered with a Taylor touchdown pass to Cooley, it was Cole again, this time with a 7-yard score and the Panthers trailed 28-14 after the first quarter.

Cole carried 26 times for 202 yards and three TDs.
