ALL-PURPOSE
KYLE SWEET
Santa Margarita, 6-0, 185, Sr.
Sweet was named All-Trinity League first team and contributed in many ways. Sweet was the Eagles’ leading receiver with 89 catches for 1,338 yards and eight touchdowns. He also returned punt and kicks, which added to his 1,683 total yards. As a defensive back, Sweet made 29 tackles and had an interception. He contributed 32 extra-point kicks and two field goals and averaged 38 yards a punt.
QUINTEN POUNDS
Cypress, 6-1, 170, Sr.
The Empire League’s MVP showed his value to the Centurions with his versatility. Pounds was Cypress’ leading receiver (29 receptions, 570 yards, eight touchdowns) and leading rusher (788 yards, 11 TDs). He also threw three touchdown passes. Pounds was an outstanding defensive back and a force as a kick and punt returner. Pounds committed to Washington, where he has been given the choice to play cornerback or receiver.
SPECIAL TEAMS
RYAN EISENDRATH
Kicker, Woodbridge, 6-0, 165, Sr.
He kicked a county-leading 12 field goals, four of them longer than 40 yards. Eisendrath made 12 of his 15 field goal attempts and was 22 for 24 on extra-point kicks. He kicked two field goals in Woodbridge’s six-point win over Garden Grove, the only loss of the season for the Southern Division champs. Eisendrath also was a fine defensive back. He had five interceptions. Eisendrath still is exploring his college options.
BLAKE JOHNSON
Punter, Los Alamitos, 6-0, 185, Sr.
The Arkansas commit was a standout punter and starting linebacker for the Sunset League champion Griffins. Johnson averaged just over 37 yards per punt with a long of 63. He also dropped 12 punts inside the opponents’ 20. Johnson racked up 72 total tackles to rank second to teammate Matt Locher. He had four sacks and two fumble recoveries and earned first-team all-league honors at linebacker. “When he goes to college, and just punts, he’s going to be beautiful,” Los Alamitos coach John Barnes said. “I won’t be surprised in four years (if) he shows up on some NFL roster.”
