Capistrano Valley Christian clinched a spot in the CIF-SS playoff with a victory over Webb Schools, 41-19, in a San Joaquin League finale Friday at Capistrano Valley High.

The Eagles (7-3, 4-1) and Webb (6-4, 3-2) went into the game tied for second place in league.

CVC totaled more than 250 total rushing yards and 246 passing yards. Ben Sukut scored a touchdown and finished with 49 rushing yards and 131 receiving yards.

In the Olympic League:

Maranatha 69, Whittier Christian 32: The Heralds fought back from the first flurry of scoring by the Minutemen, but they couldn’t keep pace the rest of the game at Whittier College.

The Minutemen (10-0, 4-0) jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead, needing only two plays from scrimmage to go along with a defensive touchdown in the opening 3:30 of the game.

The Heralds (1-9, 1-3) bounced back as Justin Osborn scored on a 14-yard run to get his team on the scoreboard. After the touchdown, the Heralds pulled off a successful onside kick. That led to a 10-yard touchdown reception by Osborn to make it 21-13.

The Minutemen took over the rest of the game with their rushing attack.

In the Academy League:

St. Margaret’s 42, Calvary Chapel of Downey 0: Oscar Gomez had 12 carries for 105 yards and three rushing touchdowns as the Tartans finished the regular season undefeated with the win at home.

The Tartans (10-0, 4-0) jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead against the Grizzlies (5-4, 1-3). The Tartans built their lead on a touchdown run by Gomez and two scores by Nick Shanks, who scored on a run and a punt return.

In the second quarter, Gomez added two more rushing touchdowns. Tartans cornerback Preston Ellis ended the first half with his seventh interception.

In the third quarter, quarterback George Krants threw a 55-yard scoring pass to Shanks.

Crean Lutheran 77, Sage Hill 41: Mark Sharp rushed for 225 yards as the Saints (6-4, 2-2) beat the Lightning (3-7, 0-4). Garrett Cox rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown for the Saints.
