MISSION VIEJO – Trabuco Hills scored on each of its first five possessions en route to a 56-14 Sea View League rout of Aliso Niguel on Friday night at Trabuco Hills High.
The Mustangs (4-3, 1-0) erupted for 433 yards of offense and scored via the run, pass, special teams and defense on Homecoming Night. Senior Noah Thompson scored a career-best four touchdowns and Brendan Schooler had three interceptions and a kickoff return for a touchdown.
“We told our kids to put the foot down on the pedal throughout league, and tonight was a good start,” Mustangs coach Tony Henney said.
Thompson caught five passes for 121 yards, while senior quarterback Jimmy Jacobs completed 9 of 12 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns.
Remy Wasserbach led the Wolverines (3-5, 1-1) with eight receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Nick Chapman completed 17 of 29 passes for 178 yards.
The victory propelled the Mustangs into a first-place tie with San Clemente, who had a bye this week. Aliso Niguel fell into a tie for second place with Capistrano Valley.
