NEWPORT BEACH – Vince Wetmore did it all and led Sage Hill to a 28-0 victory over Southlands Christian in a nonleague game Friday night.

The wide receiver for the Lightning (3-3) connected with Miles McCord on a 52-yard pass on a perfectly executed trick play halfway through the first quarter, and wound up scoring two more.

Wetmore finished with 94 receiving yards on seven catches and was a major part of three of Sage Hill’s four touchdowns.

C.J. McCord kept the offense rolling throughout the game, setting up Westmore in the second and third quarter on passes of 22 and 7 yards. Sage Hill’s quarterback finished 14 for 22 for 190 yards, and added another score on a 74-yard run that essentially put the game out of reach. McCord also effectively targeted Jake Fisher (74 yards on five catches).

For the visiting Eagles (1-4), running backs Joshua Bang (70 yards on seven carries) and Sampson Tufui (89 yards on 20 rushes) did their part, but a combination of fumbles and timely defense from the Lightning denied them time and again.

Southlands Christian quarterback Alex Baldomino Jr. finished 5 for 11 for 30 yards, but added 41 on 12 carries.
