WESTMINSTER – Westminster only needed to use its starters during the first half on its way to defeat Marina, 56-7, on Friday night in a nonleague game.

The Lions (1-1) scored early and often, finishing the first half with a 49-0 lead.

Quarterback Matt Dinh led the host Lions with five touchdowns, setting up Gabe Sanchez in the first quarter and Andrew Dotson twice in the second, while adding a pair of running scores.

Dinh finished with 224 total yards, going 4 of 4 passing for 127 yards and adding an additional 97 yards on four carries.

Meanwhile, running back Humberto Maciel led the ground attack, rushing for 95 yards on 14 carries. Dotson had 113 receiving yards on three catches.

The Vikings (0-3) produced a total of139 yards of offense, but 82 of those came in the fourth quarter when the outcome was settled.

Starting quarterback Nolan Winks wasn’t able to find his usual targets, finishing 5 of 20 with 28 yards, but backup Isiah Manos added 30 yards after going 3 of 4.

Running back Blaine Riederich scored Marina’s only touchdown on a 46-yard run with 7:04 to go in the game.

The Lions’ Ken Nguyen picked up 73 yards on 11 carries and provided a second-quarter touchdown. Backup quarterback Josh Avila added 11 second-half carries for 35 yards.
