Westminster pours it on
LOS ANGELES – Westminster dominated Bosco Tech of Rosemead, 55-0, in a nonleague game Friday night at Salesian High that featured big offensive plays and a stout defense by the Lions from start to finish.
Senior quarterback Daniel Thomsen led Westminster (2-1) by rushing for 125 yards on eight carries and he completed 8 of 14 passes for 180 yards, all in the first half.
Junior running back Humberto Maciel added to the rushing attack with 79 yards on five carries and two touchdowns. He also kicked two extra points and scored a two-point conversion.
Senior wide receiver Josh Peterson caught four first-half passes for 89yards.
Westminster allowed the Tigers (0-4) to cross midfield only once, late in the fourth quarter.
Maciel rushed for 65yards in two plays to score the first touchdown, and added a 15-yard score with 4:03 left in the quarter for a 22-0 lead.
The second team played the second half and kept the Tigers from scoring.
Backup running backs Mario Rodriguez and Kenny Nguyen rushed for 45 and 30 yards in the second half.
