FIRST TEAM OFFENSE

Conner Manning

El Toro

6-2, 180, Jr.

Quarterback

Highlights: Manning threw for 4,219 yards, breaking the county's single-season record Matt Barkley of Mater Dei set in 2007 when Barkley was national player of the year. His 41 passing touchdowns also set a county single-season record. Manning's best statistical effort came in the Southwest Division semifinals, when he passed for 458 yards and two touchdowns in a 47-41 victory over La Habra. Manning was Sea View League most valuable player.

Tyler Siudzinski

Tustin

5-10, 185, Sr.

Running back

All-county first team last year, too, Siudzinski rushed for 1,967 yards and 21 touchdowns. He averaged 141 yards a game and 6 yards a carry for the CIF-SS Southwest Division champion Tillers. Siudzinski rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns against El Toro in the division championship game. His high game was 250 yards and four touchdowns against Aliso Niguel in the playoffs. Siudzinski was named an Empire League co-offensive player of the year.

Ryan Wolpin

Santa Margarita

5-9, 192, Jr.

Running back

Wolpin rushed for 1,637 yards and 27 touchdowns for the CIF-SS Pac-5 Division champion Eagles. He averaged 109 yards a game and 7 yards a carry. He ran for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles' 27-13 victory over San Clemente in the Pac-5 final. Wolpin, whose high game was 216 yards against Los Alamitos, was named All-Trinity League first team.

Christo Kourtzidis

Orange Lutheran

6-4, 230, Sr.

Tight end

He was a two-way contributor for the Lancers. Kourtzidis was an excellent blocker, and made many clutch catches. He finished with 25 receptions for 261 yards and two touchdowns. Kourtzidis was named All-Trinity League first team. Among the state's top recruits at his position, Kourtzidis committed to Florida State.

Brett Bartolone

La Habra

5-10, 180, Sr.

Wide receiver

The speedy Bartolone was named Freeway League offensive player of the year. He had 50 receptions for 643 yards and eight touchdowns, but also carried the ball plenty of times, too. He rushed for 924 yards, with nine touchdowns, and averaged 7 yards a carry. He rushed for more than 100 yards twice this season.

Cody White

El Toro

6-2, 175, Jr.

Wide receiver

He had a county-leading 85 receptions for 1,295 yards and 18 touchdowns. White, All-Sea View League first team, had a season-high 10 catches for 150 yards and one touchdown when the Chargers beat La Habra in the Southwest Division semifinals. He had four catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the Southwest Division championship game loss to Tustin. White had more than 100 receiving yards in six games this season.

Travis Averill

Servite

6-4, 280, Sr.

Offensive lineman

Highlights: Playing for a school famed for producing outstanding offensive linemen, Averill adds his name to pantheon of great Friars linemen. He was a key component to an offense that averaged 32 points a game and a team that went undefeated in the Trinity League. Averill, actively recruited by many top college programs, committed to Boise State.

Colby Cyburt

Mission Viejo

6-5, 265, Sr.

Offensive lineman

On a team that featured quite a few outstanding linemen, Cyburt was able to stand out from the talented group. Blessed with size and speed, Cyburt played a crucial role in helping the Diablos go undefeated in the South Coast League and reach the Pac-5 Division semifinals. He will be yet another Mission Viejo lineman to play at a major college program. Cyburt, All-South Coast League first team, has trimmed his list of colleges to Colorado, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA and Washington.

Kyle Murphy

San Clemente

6-7, 270, Sr.

Offensive lineman

It takes a special lineman to be his league's most valuable player. Murphy was chosen MVP of the South Coast League this season. Usually, too, a league's MVP is a member of the league's champion, but the Tritons finished in second place. He was selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl that will be played next month. Every college football program that thinks it has a shot at Murphy has offered him a scholarship. Murphy has not made a college decision.

Riley Sorenson

Santa Margarita

6-5, 316, Jr.

Offensive lineman

He started the season being known as Santa Margarita's "other tackle," with USC-committed Max Tuerk on the left side of the line. It did not take long for this right tackle to assert himself as a top prospect, too. Big with quick feet, Sorenson was an important feature of an offense that produced 37 points a game and won five postseason games, including victories in the CIF-SS Pac-5 Division final and in the CIF State Championship Bowl Games. He was an All-Trinity League first-team selection.

Max Tuerk

Santa Margarita

6-6, 296, Sr.

Offensive lineman

Tuerk was the left tackle for the Eagles as they won CIF-SS Pac-5 Division and CIF State championships, and was a key reason the Eagles had two players who surpassed 1,000 yards rushing. He was a Trinity League co-most valuable lineman. Highly recruited by many top programs, Tuerk committed to USC.

FIRST TEAM ALL-PURPOSE

Johnny Stanton

Santa Margarita

6-3, 220, Jr.

All-purpose

Highlights: Stanton utilized an assortment of skills to help power the Eagles to CIF Pac-5 Division and CIF State Division 1 titles. On offense, the dual-threat quarterback led his team in carries (260) and was second in rushing yards (1,528) and rushing TDs (25). He led the Eagles in passing yards (2,439) and touchdown passes (13). Stanton also was an occasional blocker on offense. In narrow victories in the Pac-5 semifinals and state bowl game, Stanton also played safety on the final drives. "Undeniable," Santa Margarita assistant coach Marty Spalding said of Stanton, selected co-most valuable offensive player in the Trinity League.

Vincent Rivera

Cypress

5-7, 185, Senior

All purpose

Highlights: "Bug" Rivera was a touchdown waiting to happen in 2011. Whether it was running the ball or on kick and punt returns, Rivera was one of the most dangerous players in the county. He rushed for 1,433 yards and 25 touchdowns. His high game was 324 yards against Laguna Hills in the Southwest Division playoffs, one week after rushing for 315 yards against Pacifica in Cypress' final regular-season game. He had 14 catches for 386 yards (a 27.6-yard average) and four TDs. He also returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown against Pacifica. Rivera's dynamic play helped the Centurions win a share of the Empire League title with Tustin and Yorba Linda and reach the CIF-SS Southwest Division quarterfinals. He has a scholarship offer from the University of San Diego.

FIRST TEAM DEFENSE

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Aaron Porter

La Habra

6-2, 235, Sr.

Linebacker

Highlights: Porter was a second-team all-county linebacker last year. This year, he's the 2011 defensive player of the year and for good reason. He set a school record in tackles, recorded 11 1/2 sacks, forced five fumbles and intercepted two passes. He did all this while rushing for 865 yards and 17 touchdowns on offense. In his career, he recorded 388 tackles, 54 for loss and 26 sacks. He has committed to UCLA.

Chris Frost

Santa Margarita

6-4, 238, Sr.

Defensive lineman

Highlights: Frost made nights extremely brutal for the opposition. He finished the season with 99 tackles, 12 ½ sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. His 12 ½ sacks are the fourth best in the program's history. He closed the season strong. In the Pac-5 final, he had two sacks and three tackles for losses and in the CIF State Division 1 championship, he had eight unassisted tackles and was credited with half a sack. Frost was selected Trinity League most valuable defensive player. Frost has not made a college decision.

Kyle Kelley

Woodbridge

6-3, 215, Sr.

Defensive lineman

Highlights: After collecting 19 sacks as a junior, the fast and furious Kelley was a beast on the defensive side of the ball for the Warriors. He received Pacific Coast League Defensive MVP honors. He was credited with 22 sacks, 87 tackles, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He recorded seven sacks in a 27-14 victory over Northwood and had 18 tackles in a game against Corona del Mar. This is his first All-County selection. Kelley committed to Arizona but is making other recruiting trips.

Chazz Roberts

Tesoro

6-0, 243, Jr.

Defensive lineman

Highlights: Roberts was a second-team All-South Coast League performer last year as a sophomore. There was no keeping him off of first team this year. His quickness and tenacity made him a difficult matchup for anyone who tried to block him, including San Clemente All-American offensive tackle Kyle Murphy. The junior, whom Tesoro coach Brian Barnes called the leader of the defense, recorded 93 tackles, 16 ½ tackles for loss, recovered two fumbles and had 8 ½ sacks. This is his first All-County selection.

Butch Pauu

Servite

5-11, 220, Sr.

Linebacker

Highlights: Pauu was the heart and soul of the Servite defense. This is his second consecutive first-team All-County selection. One of the hardest hitters in the county, "The Butcher" made life miserable for the opposition. In the Friars' league victory over Mater Dei, his third-down sack thwarted one Mater Dei comeback attempt, and later he made a leaping recovery of a blocked punt for a touchdown. After two consecutive first-team all-Trinity League honors, the BYU commit was selected the league's co-MVP this season.

Blake Rodgers

Tesoro

6-3, 222, Sr.

Linebacker

Highlights: Rodgers backed up his solid junior season with an even more impressive senior performance. The Washington commit received first-team all-South Coast League honors after recording 103 tackles, 13 ½ for loss, one interception and eight sacks. He did all this while splitting time on offense, where he rushed for 389 yards and eight touchdowns. Barnes summed up Rodgers simply as "special." He was a first-team South Coast League performer. He also had offers from Air force and San Diego State.

Ryan Harris

Mission Viejo

5-11, 210, Sr.

Linebacker

Highlights: Harris is the other half of the South Coast League co-defensive MVP award. He shared the honor with his teammate Anthony Pierce. Harris had a memorable season. The senior recorded 123 tackles, forced four fumbles, recorded three sacks, recovered two fumbles and had two interceptions. Harris averaged seven tackles per game. Among his many big plays was a crucial interception against San Clemente. He received second team all-league honors last season. He is planning on a career in the military.

Christian Tober

San Clemente

5-9, 175, Sr.

Defensive back

Highlights: Tober received third-team All-County honors last season, but you couldn't hold him down this year. Tober did a little bit of everything for the Pac-5 finalist Tritons. Defensively, he recorded 51 tackles, intercepted four passes, blocked three field goals, forced two fumbles and broke up six passes. He received first-team all-South Coast League honors. He recently received his first scholarship offer from South Dakota State, and USC offered him a spot as a preferred walk-on.

Connor O'Brien

Santa Margarita

6-2, 162, Jr.

Defensive back

Highlights: O'Brien always seemed to be around the ball for Pac-5 champion Eagles. The junior safety recorded 91 tackles, forced two fumbles, had 15 pass break-ups and led the county with eight interceptions --- the latter two are school records. O'Brien wrapped up the season with a 12-tackle performance in the CIF State Division 1 championship. He had two interceptions in two games (Long Beach Jordan and Long Beach Poly). Against Mater Dei, he returned an interception for a touchdown. O'Brien received first-team All-Trinity League honors. He also played receiver, where he had 24 receptions for 299 yards and two touchdowns.

Max Redfield

Mission Viejo

6-3, 195, Jr.

Defensive back

Highlights: All Redfield did this year was go out and get a scholarship offer from USC. Redfield, who didn't make either first or second team all-South Coast League last season, secured himself a spot on first team with his performance this season. The junior had 91 tackles and intercepted three passes. Redfield had 10 tackles against Long Beach Poly in a 17-12 victory and had eight tackles and an interception in the victory over San Clemente. He also had 22 receptions for 415 yards and four touchdowns.

Anthony Pierce

Mission Viejo

5-9, 170, Sr.

Defensive back

Highlights: Pierce, perhaps the best cover cornerback in the county, drew a lot of attention when he held Carson's dynamic receiver Darreus Rogers to one catch early this season. He also had an interception against the Colts. Pierce, who was selected co-defensive MVP of the South Coast League finished the season with 55 tackles, three interceptions and four forced fumbles. He was a second team all-South Coast League performer last year.

FIRST TEAM

SPECIALISTS

John McGrory

Santa Margarita

6-2, 180, Senior

Kicker

Highlights: Call McGrory "Mr. Automatic." Santa Margarita scored a ton of touchdowns in 2011 and McGrory was more dependable than most NFL kickers on extra-point attempts. He made a county-record and CIF-SS record 106 consecutive extra-point attempts until he missed in a playoff game against Bishop Amat. McGrory was also 5 of 5 on field goals. When the Eagles brought the kicking unit on the field, it was a done deal. Also the Eagles punter, McGrory averaged 38 yards a punt and played nine of his 24 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

Sean Wale

La Habra

6-0, 155, Sr.

Punter

Highlights: Wale averaged 45.3 yards per punt for the Freeway League champion Highlanders. He delivered several of his best punts in the biggest games. In the CIF-Southwest Division semifinals, he averaged 50.7 yards on three punts against El Toro. Wale had a 65-yard punt against Servite. He also finished the season with eight field goals, including a 52-yarder. He is being recruited by Boise State as a punter and Navy as a kicker. "Sean Wale is a stud," kicking guru Chris Sailer said.
