HUNTINGTON BEACH – Nathan Arrington and Edward Willams each scored two first-half touchdowns as Katella defeated Ocean View, 35-24, in a nonleague football game Thursday night at Ocean View High.

The Knights, who improved their record to 5-0, used the two TD runs by Arrington and the two TD catches by Williams to go into halftime with a 28-17 lead.

Ocean View (3-2) started the second half with a trick play: a flea-flicker pass good for 57 yards from senior quarterback Xavier Salgado to junior receiver Adam Meyer. Junior Noah Deloera capped the 69-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.

Neither side found the end zone the rest of the quarter.

Katella extended its lead to 35-24 at the start of the fourth as Arrington, a junior, threw his third TD pass of the game – a 41-yarder to senior wideout James Fatasia.

The Seahawks’ next drive died when they failed to convert a fourth-and-1 inside Katella’s 10-yard line.

The got the ball back at their own 6 with 2 1/2 minutes left, but a desperate heave from Salgado was picked off by Fatasia at midfield to clinch it for Katella.

The Knights earned some breathing room late in the first half when they got the ball at their 19-yard line with 47 seconds left and scored in three plays – a 9-yard run by senior Francisco Pineda, a 48-yard completion to Fatasia and Arrington’s throw to the end zone with 10 seconds left that Williams, a sophomore, caught amid a flock of Seahawks defenders for a 24-yard score.
