BUENA PARK – Brandon Castelo came within two yards and a horse-collar tackle of having back-to-back 80-yard touchdown runs to end the first half.

His two long runs gave Sunny Hills some breathing room and all the momentum as the Lancers defeated Dana Hills, 34-17, on Friday night in a nonleague game at Buena Park High.

First Castelo raced down the right sideline before being stopped at the 2-yard line, which set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Cade Caffrey.

The Dolphins (0-2) came right back for their first touchdown of the night, a 10-yard run by Jake Baldiviez, to cut the lead to 14-10 with 37 seconds left in the half.

Then Castelo took a pitch from his own 20-yard line and once again went down the right sideline, this time covering the entire 80 yards to put the Lancers up 20-10 at halftime.

The Lancers (2-0) went right back to the running game to open the second half, this time using a 92-yard drive to put the game away. The drive, which took 14 plays and consumed 8:13, was capped by Castelo’s 5-yard touchdown run.

Castelo finished with 239 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries. He was joined in the 200-yard club by Alex Jung, who ran for 205 yards on 28 carries, while also scoring twice.
