Woodbridge's girls volleyball team took the first step toward defending its Sea View League title, defeating Northwood in three games Monday night at Woodbridge.

The Warriors (7-3 overall) won the league opener, 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.

“It's a win. I felt like we played a little flat,” Woodbridge coach Donnie Rafter said. “I don't feel that we played with the enthusiasm I would have liked, but we got out and we won.”

Leah Sully led Woodbridge with 13 kills. Grace Konstanzer had nine kills, and Lauren Cimino added six kills. Setter Jenny Feicht had 38 assists.

Northwood (6-5) put up a battle in the second game and moved out to a 17-12 lead. But the Warriors rallied, tying the score, 19-19, on an ace by Feicht.

Woodbridge eventually moved ahead, 23-20, lead before closing out the game for a 2-0 lead.
Still, Northwood coach John Gaido thought his team progressed.

“We gave a good effort today. We ran into a very good Woodbridge team,” Gaido said. “I was pleased with our enthusiasm and our effort. Now, we just got to execute.

Amanda Clark led the Timberwolves with six kills.

Gaido was also pleased with the play of Sarah Wroblicky.

“She's been doubling as an outside hitter and setter and the kid just plays her heart out all the time along with the other team captain, Alyssa Changala,” Gaido said.
