He scored 80 points over four Pacific Coast League games as the Patriots went 3-1. Thoerner, a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard, scored 23 points in a win over Woodbridge, 16 in a win over Northwood, 25 in a win over University and 16 in a loss to Woodbridge. He shot 52 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free-throw line, and he averaged five rebounds a game.
