The Lions school-history-making season ended with a 24-17 loss to Bishop Amat of La Puente in the second round of the Pac-5 Division playoffs. They beat Mater Dei for the first time, got to the playoffs for the first time and won a playoff game for the first time. This week: season over

The Monarchs’ offensive inconsistency was damaging in a 27-24 loss to Centennial of Corona in a Pac-5 second-round game. The had beaten Centennial in a nonleague game. Mater Dei’s other losses were to JSerra and St. John Bosco in Trinity League games. This week: season over

The Eagles were eliminated by Crespi of Encino in the Pac-5 first round two weeks ago. They finished fourth in the Trinity League and qualified for the playoffs as an at-large team. Santa Margarita beat Bishop Amat, which advanced to the semifinals, in a nonleague game. This week: season over

4. Mission Viejo, 10-2 (67)

A Brock Johnson touchdown pass to Steven Munoz with 1:07 left gave the Diablos a 38-35 comeback win over Rancho Cucamonga in a West Valley Division second-round game. The Diablos are the only county team in the West Valley semifinals. This week: vs. Great Oak of Temecula, Friday

5. Servite, 4-7 (59)

It was questioned if the Friars deserved the Pac-5 at-large berth they got. Evidence has arrived that they did. Servite lost to Long Beach Poly by one point in the first round, and Poly beat Mission League No. 1 team Crespi to advance to the semifinals. This week: season over

6. Tesoro, 9-3 (50)

The Titans had their chances to win but lost to Vista Murrieta, 28-27, in a West Valley Division second-round game. Tesoro had a 24-0 lead at halftime as Devon Modster had a great night and finished with 343 passing yards and two touchdowns. This week: season over

7. Orange Lutheran, 4-6 (38)

They did not make the playoffs, but the Lancers continue to get respect from the county top 10 media panel. They lost to Pac-5 semifinalist Centennial of Corona by three points. Lutheran beat Vista Murrieta by 23 points; Vista Murrieta beat Tesoro in last week’s West Valley second round. This week: season over

8. San Clemente, 11-1 (36)

Sam Darnold had another huge night as the Tritons beat Foothill, 56-6, in a Southwest Division second-round game. San Cleemente had scored 99 points over two playoff wins. In the next round, the Tritons play a team they beat last month by 27 points. This week: vs. Capistrano Valley, Friday

9. Trabuco Hills, 8-4 (14)

A strong second half carried the Mustangs to a 28-10 win over top-seeded Corona del Mar in a Southwest Division second-round game last week. Chad Crosbie rushed for 130 yards almost 100 of them in the second half. This week: vs. Buena Park, Friday

10. El Toro, 8-4 (12)

The Chargers could not make it two playoff upsets in a row as they lost to Great Oak of Temecula, 27-24, in the second round last week. They had knocked off Los Alamitos, 59-21, in the first round two weeks ago. This week: season over
