Wednesday’s CIF girls water polo semifinals

DIVISION 6

WESTRIDGE OF PASADENA (22-5) vs. OCEAN VIEW (25-5)

Site, time: Santa Ana Valley, 5:30 p.m.

Outlook: The second-seeded Seahawks know the challenge that awaits. No. 3 seed Westridge is led by junior Georgia Bogle, whom Ocean View assistant coach Eric Perales calls the best player in the division. Bogle has 120 goals but her junior teammate, Kira O’Donell has 145. The Seahawks also played Westridge last season in the playoffs, posting a 17-13 victory in the quarterfinals. Ocean View’s defense will need to be sharp Wednesday for the Seahawks to reach a fourth straight final. Westridge is coming off an impressive 15-3 victory against Cypress in the quarterfinals. Westridge fouled out three Cypress players. Ocean View’s defense is anchored by goalie Ieva Vaiciunas and defender Kasey Tippy. Perales’ praise of Bogle is high considering Ocean View features the four-year varsity duo center Shannon Graham (134 goals)  and attacker Elena Isoagawa (79 goals).

The winner plays the winner of the semifinal between Santa Monica-Carbrillo of Lompoc in the fiinals Saturday at Woollett. The second semifinal is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Valley.
